Info about Exact Matching
|
If you choose to search by the Country, Operator or Item
fields, this system will only return results based on an exact match with the information in the
database record for the photograph. Country codes are invariably four characters long. For example, to search for photographs taken in Switzerland, you should enter the code SWIT. Entering SWI or SWITZ will produce no resulting matches. If you enter a valid country code and it fails to match, then probably no digital images of photographs taken in that country are yet available. Operator entries are two, three, four or five characters long, and Item entries are two, three or four characters long. Entering SNC will find neither SNCB nor SNCF pictures. Exact matching ensures, for example, that a search for EMU produces only pictures of EMU and none of a DEMU, and that searching for BR does not also find images of the NBR or the TBrew railway in Belgium. |
